Getting on the same page

We all want/wanted to be a champion at something when we were little. Most of us still want that now. How many hours did you invest into your own pursuit of championship status or into your kids opportunities to be a champion?

But is it more important to be a world class musician, soccer superstar, or is there something more?
Fill in the blanks

a spiritual champion is someone who ______ with and _____ Jesus for their whole life. They finish the race and they _____ ____ __ in both the good times and bad. They also ______ others to join the race.
How then do we become or raise spiritual champions??
Imitation

Paul is saying in that passage to be a spiritual champion imitate those who are following Jesus. We see it through out the bible Joshua imitated Moses, Barak imitated Deborah, Timothy imitated Paul. The key to raising spiritual champions is imitation.

Can you name someone who is part of this church who shows you what following Jesus really looks like?
Fill in the blanks

To _______ someone you have to be __ _____ enough to see what you are modelling.

You need to __ ____ together
How deeply do we share life? are we in the same race or are we running solely on our own track. Christianity is not an individualistic pursuit you are part of a body and you need each other.

Each of you have an important role to play in this faith community – people are looking to you to imitate but that can’t happen from a distance.
It’s great to have people to imitate but there’s a caveat. They have to be worth imitating.

There is someone worth following. Someone suitable for all of us to imitate.

Jesus is the one to imitate for all of us.
Who are people following if they're imitating you?

Just like people can’t imitate you from a distance you can’t imitate Jesus from a distance either. You need to get close enough to Jesus to imitate him.

You need to follow him.
What is it in the words or actions of Jesus you want to practice imitating this week?
As our life groups gather this week, we have attached our reference verse and some questions to prompt a deeper discussion and search into this week's topic.

If you are not currently part of a life group, and would like to join a small group of like minded people in fellowship and connection during the week, please contact Nick on 0417472474 to register your interest.
