River Youth Back to School Night
TONIGHT, The River Youth will be having our annual Back to School Night from 5:30pm-8:00pm. We are adding more time because we will be doing something new this year that we believe will set students up for an amazing year in their relationship with Christ. Students always look forward to this night and we believe this year will be just as impactful. Please make sure your student joins us that night.
River Youth Prayer Partners
Our student ministry is looking for adults who would be willing to pray for an assigned student for 5 minutes per week in the upcoming school year. Our goal is to have EVERY STUDENT prayed for, EVERY WEEK they are in school, for EVERY YEAR they are in our student ministry. If you would be interested in doing this, please contact zach@HitTheRiver.com by Sunday, August 26.
River Youth Pool Party
On Sunday, September 2, The River Youth will be having an End of Summer Pool Party at Terri Smith’s house in Monroe from 4:30pm-6:00pm. Come out, bring a friend, and enjoy one last opportunity in the pool before summer unofficially ends. If you have any questions, contact zach@HitTheRiver.com.

Beyond the Broken Heart
How does the heart understand grief when it is broken by the death of a loved one? To survive and live forward, those who grieve must find answers. Beyond the Broken Heart is a ten-week support and ministry program for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
This small group will meet on Sunday mornings during first service (9:45am-11:00am) starting Sunday, September 9. Contact Jim Mousie for additional information and/or questions about this group (jimmousie@hotmail.com). The group will be limited to 6-12 participants and participants should be at least 3 months removed from their grief experience. What does is mean to be Christian?
Curiously, the term is never used in the Bible. Instead, Christian was a label used by outsiders to define Jesus’ followers. Jesus referenced ‘disciple’ as the key word he used to describe his supporters along with the fact that they would be known for their love – a novel concept for their time – and ours today. What if believers today embodied these traits? Would the non-believing world put aside its definition of "Christian" and instead know us by our love? Join one of our Sunday morning groups at 9:45am or 11:15am starting September 9 for an 8-week study.
NB-Tween Girls: New Time, New Place
The NB-Tween Girls group will be kicking off the fall by looking at what two sisters can teach us about combating comparison. The group will be using the "Rachel & Leah - Teen Girls' Bible Study" by Nicki Koziarz for this study. Have your 6th-8th grade girl join us during the 1st service (9:45am) starting Sunday, September 9 as a new offering for junior high girls. Margaret Layman & Amy Sanders look forward investing in the junior high girls here at The River! Contact Margaret at margaret.s.layman@gmail.com with any questions.
