WOP "Reclaim" Conference
This year's annual District Women of Purpose Conference is being offered virtual on Sat., Nov. 14, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. We are able to watch the live stream right from the comfort of our own church sanctuary! If you are interested please sign up in the upper foyer. The Registration cost has been lowered: $20.00 per person and there are several ladies already signed up to watch it in the sanctuary!
Women's Christmas Dinner
This year’s dinner will be held here at the church. We will have it catered by Olive Garden. We are asking for a $5.00 donation to cover the cost of the food and a $10 Fill-A-Christmas-Stocking-Gift exchange. If the cost is a hardship, please see Anna. We want every lady to attend our celebration of the birth of our savior! Please sign up in the upper foyer.

Week 9 - November 1, 2020 - Pastor Jeff Bender
Today we’re going to look at something that is a precursor to heaven.
Last week we looked at the new heavens and new earth.
We showed how God will burn the existing earth back to it’s initial or original foundation--eliminating all death decay and corruption and starting with a clean slate.
Today, however, we’re going to look at what happens just before the new heavens and new earth.

Today, however, we’re going to look at what happens just before the new heavens and new earth.
Remember, last week we touched on the time line of events leading up to the end.
1) Rapture of the church
This is when all believers vanish from the earth.
2) The Great Tribulation
This is the 7 years right after the rapture. The anti-Christ appears and the first 3.5 years will be relatively peaceful. He breaks his own treaty and the last 3.5 years will be horrible.
3) The War of Armageddon
This is at the end of the tribulation.
4) The Return (2nd Coming) of Christ
He ends the war, defeats the anti-Christ and sets up the Millennial Reign or the Millennium.
And that is what we’re talking about today.
The Millennium.

1) AMILLENNIAL
This teaches that there is no timed 1000 years. They believe that since the death of Christ, we have been living in a symbolic millennium. The 2nd coming and last judgment will happen at the same time.
The promises made in the Old Testament to Israel about future grandeur, they believe is happening now.
2) POST MILLENNIAL
Again, most believe the 1000 years is figurative and not literal. That we are living in that time right now.
They also believe that the church and the gospel will make the world better, eventually ushering the return of Christ.
That what we are seeing in the advances in science and technology and peace and health are being brought about by the gospel.
But I think the society we see now is not any better than before and the church is not having the impact it used to have.

This teaches that it is a real 1000 years, not figurative or spiritual.
This is what we believe and that is what we’re going to talk about today.

Both of these say “at his coming”.
Not in heaven. So when Christ comes to end the battle and step foot on the earth again, this is when he deals out the rewards.
The rapture, Jesus never touches the earth. We meet him in the air.
The 2nd coming, he does.
Part of our reward is to rule over the earth during the 1000 years.

B) IT WILL BE A TIME OF PERSONAL JOY
Did you know that the Christmas song, “Joy to the World” was not originally meant as a Christmas song?
If you read the lyrics, you’ll see that it was written to describe the joy found in the 1000 years.
Joy to the world, the Lord is come
Let earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare Him room
And Heaven and nature sing
Did his first arrival show him as king? No, as suffering servant.
It’s the 2nd coming that hails him as king.
He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove

Did he rule, or reign when he was born or during his 33 years? Nope.
Did he make the nations do anything? Nope.

These people live in a peaceful world.
No devil to tempt them, no death or sin to speak of, (but it still happens).
Jesus is the king, us as raptured saints will rule with him, the lion lays with the lamb, kids can play with snakes.
The world has never seen such peace.

This is the only time there will be a real peace treaty.
Not only peace but abundant prosperity. And yet, people are still wicked.
Because when the devil is let out, many people will be quick to follow him.

Think about this, it will be a time of unbridled prosperity, peace and longevity. We will live a lot longer.
The planet will almost be perfect. There won’t be much sickness and people will live longer.
What excuse will they have for not following God?
I equate that to what is happening today. We live the most prosperous country, except for what is happening now, we are at peace at home.
We are getting rockets launched at us like the middle east. We’re not starving like Ethiopia or other similar countries. We don’t have a dictator that can order the deaths of our own people.
But yet, people’s sinful nature rises up and they hate this.

So at the end of the 1000 years, he goes about tempting every nation and people groups.

Armageddon is not the last battle, there is still one more.
It appears that many will follow Satan when he is freed and rebel against the Christians. They will surround them in attempt to kill them.
But God intervenes before it even starts.

Then the devil is defeated for good.
The 1000 years has ended, now come the final judgment for all those who didn’t trust Christ.
As believers who are alive today, we won’t be the ones who either live thru the tribulation or the millennium.
We will be the rulers during that time with Jesus.
Just like we mentioned last week that the beauty of Earth is a small sample of what the New earth will be like.

Does all this sound like something mystical or a bit of SciFi? Well it shouldn’t. God didn’t give us all this info just to store it on a back shelf in your mind.
It is designed to illicit a response from us. Next week, we’ll see what that is.
