CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1) What stood out to you from the sermon?

2) We learned that Babylon (or any modern-day human political, military or economic system) WILL eventually fall. How does that teaching influence your feelings on the election?

3) Read Revelation 14:6. What’s significant about the gospel being described as ‘eternal’ and who the angel has chosen to proclaim to?

4) In Revelation 14:12, endurance is required of the believers. This is the third time this phrase occurs (also in Rev 1:9 and Rev 13:10). How can you be a more enduring faithful presence with difficult people or difficult issues in your life?

PRAYER
Pray for our city as the weather turns, sickness increases and unemployment grows. A practical way you can encourage and lift up the vulnerable in KC is by sponsoring a Thanksgiving Donation Bag for CFBC’s Food Pantry. If you missed picking up a bag, contact Kaci Calhoun to get one: kacic@christcommunitykc.org.

Prayer Requests

As a staff it is a privilege to pray for our congregation. Social distance does not change that! If you are in need of prayer click the link to fill out an online prayer request.

Title: Follow the Lamb
Scripture: Revelation 14
Speaker: Bill Gorman, BillG@ChristCommunityKC.org
"The gospel of Jesus Christ is more political than anyone imagines, but in a way no one guesses." - Eugene Peterson, Reversed Thunder
"There is no avoiding politics. The moment one life impinges upon another politics begins. And our lives do impinge on others whether we will it or not…. No action or belief is private." - Andrew Peterson, Reversed Thunder
>> Babylon’s Kingdom is falling
“Thus what the dragon calls up from the sea represents the evil systems of the world in all their forms: political, military, social, economic and religious.

John’s readers would have recognized the beast summoned from the depths of the abyss as the superpower of their own day:

Rome, with her world-conquering armies and blasphemous claims of divinity." - Paul Spilsbury, The Throne, The Lamb, and the Dragon
>> So if you think Tuesday is everything, you are an idolater
"Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever." - Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia
>> So if you think Tuesday is nothing, you are enabling injustice
>> The Lamb’s followers are enduring
"[Jesus] clearly intended that everyone know that rule of God was comprehensive...He just as clearly repudiated the devil’s offer of a position in government, rebuked the brothers Boanerges for wanting to call down fire from heaven to incinerate their enemies ordered Peter to put up his sword, reassured Pilate that the governor's job was in do danger, and finally, to make sure no one missed the point, arranged that his coronation take place on a cross." - Andrew Peterson, Reversed Thunder
