CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1) What stood out to you from the sermon?

2) Read Genesis 3:1-5 and Rev 12:9. From the beginning to the end, Satan uses near-truths. How does he do this as both the serpent and the beast?

3) If you were marked with the logo of what you are most loyal to, what would it be? (it could be a team, a brand of clothes, your children’s names, a political movement, a cause you support etc.)

4) Why do you think God allows the Beasts in Revelation 13 to roam the earth with power, gaining worship?

5) Read 2 Corinthians 11: 3-4 and 13-15. If Satan masquerades as an Angel of Light, how can we be on guard and discerning against him?

Prayer
Pray for these days leading up to the election, and how we as people of the light can be peacemakers, no matter which candidates are elected. Consider joining your church family for a night of prayer for our nation, and worship of the only One on the throne - Thursday, Nov 5, 6:30pm at Brookside campus (indoor, with masks). Register online.

Prayer Requests

As a staff it is a privilege to pray for our congregation. Social distance does not change that! If you are in need of prayer click the link to fill out an online prayer request.

Title: The Deceiver of the World
Scripture: Revelation 12-13
Speaker: Bill Gorman, BillG@ChristCommunityKC.org
>> An almost Jesus is an absolute threat
"The reasons for my uneasiness with the biblical and Indian world views should now be clear. I had excluded the middle level of supernatural but this-worldly being and forces from my own worldview…. For me the middle zone did not really exist. Unlike Indian villagers, I had given little thought to spirits of this world, to local ancestors or ghosts, or to the souls of animals. For me these belonged to the realm of fairies, trolls, and other mythical beings." - Paul Hiebert, Anthropological Reflections on Missiological Issues
"There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors, and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight." - C.S. Lewis, The Screwtape Letters
>> Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia: fear of the number 666
"In the same way the mark of the beast is a sign of loyalty and belonging, not to God but to the beast. And just as we should not interpret the seal of God as something visible to the nake eye, so we should not think of the mark of the beast as something that can be seen, or indeed even as a physical reality. It is a spiritual mark, an attitude, a mindset that shows compliance with the agenda and methods of the beast." - Paul Spilbury
>> We endure by unmasking the “almosts.”
