Conversation Starter
Do you still see or talk with any of your childhood friends?
Begin your study with prayer
Pause for a few minutes to quiet your heart and mind. Ask God to help you experience His love and hear His voice as you study and reflect this week.
Bible Study and Group Discussion
Read Acts 4:32-37.
Acts of the Apostles 4:32-37 NLT

1. What was the attitude of the believers’ hearts toward each other and their material possessions?
2. Why was there such radical sacrifice among these believers? What was their motivation to give so freely?
3. Perry defined oneness as a strong feeling of closeness in the Spirit, producing unity of thought, feeling and belief. How can you help create this type of miraculous community with those close to you? Within Brookwood? For further insight, see 2 Corinthians 9:6-15; Philippians 2:1-4; 1 Timothy 5:3-4.
Acts of the Apostles 5:1-11 NLT

4. Ananias lied to the apostles. Why did Peter say he lied to the Holy Spirit?
5. If Ananias owned the land and was free to sell it or not to sell it (vs. 4), what crime did he commit? What was his sin? For further study, compare and contrast this passage with Joshua 7:1-26.
6. What do the following passages teach about confronting sin and living in community: Matthew 7:1-5, Luke 17:1-4, and Galatians 6:1-5? What’s been your experience confronting the sin of others?
Acts of the Apostles 5:12-16 NLT

7. What signs were performed among the believers? Make a list of what was happening.
8. Why do you think no one else dared to join them (vs. 13)?
9. How do you see God at work among the people of Brookwood?
Spiritual Practice
[Spiritual Practices are steps we take to allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives. These aren’t meant to be one-time actions, but practices that become a natural part of our lives.]

Everything you have is God’s, and everything you have is on loan from God. Name several resources God has given you (money, gifts, time, personal experiences). Name one person or organization who can benefit from one of those resources and give it to them. How can you make giving a regular practice for your Small Group and/or family?
Memory Verse
All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had.
Acts 4:32 (NLT)
Prepare for Next Sunday
Sunday, October 25, we’ll continue the series titled Church Empowered. To prepare, read Acts 5:17-6:7.
Acts of the Apostles 5:17-41 NLT

Acts of the Apostles 6:1-7 NLT
