The Crossing
Week 26 of our sermon series "The Cure."
The book of Revelation revolves around a scene in heaven where a scroll sealed with 7 seals needs to be read.
Revelation 5:1-14 NIV
No one was worthy...
No one was worthy because of the sin that had entered the world.
The blood of the Lamb of God is written on that scroll. That is how their sin was paid for and covered.
It all goes back to a tree, our first tree in the story.
Genesis 2:15-17 NIV
The tree represented a choice. We were created not only to be loved by God but to love Him in return, and that is always a choice.
Genesis 3:1-7 NIV
Genesis 3 describes our great loss.
A great loss would require an even greater price.
Do not weep!
There was a second tree. This one was cut down and fashioned by man into an instrument of torture and death. It wasn’t planted but pushed down into the earth and used to fix a man to with nails.
John 19:16-18 NIV
This horrible cost for all the sin of all the world was paid in full on that second tree and in doing that, Jesus claimed authority for salvation to every person who asked for it, fixing their name on that scroll in His own blood.
And they will reign!
Healing happens when things go back as they used to be before the sickness or injury.
Revelation 22:1-5 NIV
What an incredible picture of what God is planning. Not only do we see the tree of life once again but we read about its leaves and the healing they produce.
There is a sickness both in us and around us that will not go away, not until God finishes His work and Jesus returns for His bride.
