Sermon Title: Christus Victor
Sermon Verses: Rev 20:1-15

1 And I saw a messenger coming down out of the sky while holding the key of the Abyss and a great chain at his hand. 2 And he seized the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and he bound him a thousand years 3 and he threw him into the Abyss and closed and sealed it above him, in order that he might not still deceive the nations until the end of the thousand years. After these things he must be loosed for a short time. 4 And I saw thrones and they were sitting upon them and a judgment was given to them—both the souls of those beheaded on account of the testimony of Jesus and on account of the Word of God and those neither bowing down to the beast nor its image and not receiving the mark upon their foreheads and hands. And they lived and reigned with the Anointed One a thousand years. 5 Those remaining of the dead ones did not live until the completion of the thousand years. This (is) the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy (is) the one having part in the first resurrection; over these ones, the second death does not have authority, but they will be priests of God and of the Anointed One and they will reign with him the thousand years. 7 And whenever the thousand years is completed, Satan will be loosed from his prison. 8 And he will come out to deceive the nations, those at the four corners of the land, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle, their number of which (was) as the sand of the sea.
Word of the Week: Christus Victor: Jesus was victorious in his incarnation (i.e. his First Coming), that victory was affirmed in his life, death, resurrection, and ascension, and that victory will be solidified in his Second Coming.
