Abide: Extraordinary Friendship with the Eternal Savior
Welcome to Grace Chapel! Since we were kids we have valued friendship. Even in first grade we talked about our “Best friend” and throughout life we seek to maintain meaningful relationships. The most meaningful friendship of all is the one that we will share with Jesus. Friendship with Jesus is possible, and, in this message, we discover the invitation to steadily pursue an intimate friendship with Jesus.

The steady pursuit of FRIENDSHIP with Jesus will result in boundless JOY and perpetual PURPOSE.
The CONDITION of Friendship: We carry out Jesus’ COMMANDS by showing unrelenting love toward others. (vs. 12-14).

The PRIVILEGE of Friendship: We are given GRACE that turns us from servants to confidants. (v. 15)
The PURPOSE of Friendship: We produce lasting RESULTS that fulfill God’s purposes. (v. 16)
The OBLIGATION of Friendship: We love because we have been so LOVED by Christ. (v. 17)
THIS WEEK I WILL:
- Read 1 Corinthians 13:3 and consider where I may be lacking love for others.
- I will show three people love through acts of kindness.
- Write a note of encouragement to someone I know who is going through a hard time.
- Pray, asking God to help me live in light of my friendship with Jesus and walk in a manner worthy of that friendship. – 1 Thessalonians 2:11–12
