“Imitate Me” – It’s a Humbling Statement, Not Prideful
· “Imitate Me” is said by Paul out of parental care
· He’s not saying “look how great I am”, this is not prideful on his part
· It takes humility to say “Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1)
“Imitate Me” – It’s the Only Jesus Some will Ever See
· The Corinthians had little to go on to know what Jesus was like
· You are the only Jesus that many people in your Oikos are going to see
· Our lives, though not perfect, are to be lived so that people can see Jesus through our lives
“Imitate Me” – Do We Embrace the Challenge?
· This is the heart of counter culture living – living like Jesus
· Living our heavenly culture of grace, freedom, humility, service, compassion, love here on earth
· Living our lives so we can say to those we invest in, “Imitate Me as I Imitate Jesus”
· We have the Holy Spirit living within us, to empower us to live like Jesus
