Who was Jabez?
Jabez (Heb.) “with pain” or “with sorrow”
No father to bless and protect him.
No inheritance waiting for him.

Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!”

Jabez went to God because he realized everything belongs to God.
He realized he was a steward.
He realized he was a steward.
3. That Your hand would be with me.
4. That You keep me from harm.
Deliver us from the power of evil.
Lead and guide us away from temptation.
Pride: overestimating your ability to withstand temptation
Chronicles 4:10
