What is for afternoon tea?
If you are a parent, grandparent, Aunty, Uncle or babysitter you have most likely had the experience of the children in your care only seeing you as the one who is responsible for filling your stomach.

Sometimes that is the way we relate to Jesus.

The Crowds expectation of Jesus was the he was the one who would fill their stomachs.

Do you sometimes come to Jesus seeking only to have your stomach filled or your physical/material needs met?

A warning against grumbling and taking offense
Some of Jesus followers grumbled and took offense at what Jesus said. This passage is a warning to us not to do the same and miss out on the life and blessing to be found in Jesus.

Are we just looking for breakfast?
Jesus is absolutely our provider and he is so much more. Are we coming to him just looking for breakfast or are we coming to him to be filled with the fulness that only he himself can provide?

1. The crowds came to Jesus looking for more bread after they had their fill the day before. What kind of material things do we pursue Jesus for today?

2. Why do you think that Jesus refused to just give the crowds more bread?

3. What do you think Jesus wants to teach us by declaring that he is the bread of life?

4.How can we learn to find satisfaction in Jesus himself and not just what he can give us?

5. What else have you learned about Jesus from this passage?
