Redefining Greatness: Seeking and Surrendering is Selfless
Welcome to Grace Chapel! Jesus proclaimed that He was the one true God, but He never forced anyone to believe. Each person had to decide for themselves. In the same way, we, too, are faced with a decision: will we see Jesus as worthy to be sought or treat Him as a hobby or safety plan. In this passage, we redefine what it means to seek Jesus and surrender to Him.

THE SEEKING (vs. 20-24)
DESIRE: the longing in my heart to see Christ is given by God, irrespective of my BACKGROUND.

THE SURRENDERING (vs. 25-26)
DEDICATION: loving ourselves SEPARATES us from God; I must be devoted to Christ to gain life.
DENIAL: following Christ demands that I put away my lower GOOD and accept His highest good.

Christ’s promise is worth my seeking, and when found, it demands my life.

My Next Steps:
- Invite one person to Easter that I know needs the Gospel message.
- Read Philippians 1 and gain perspective on what is worth seeking.
- Identify one godly affection that I need to cultivate in my life and engage in it.
- Pray each morning a prayer of surrender to the Lord, asking Him to have His way.
