Pastor Joseph Salajan Bio
Expand
Pastor Joe was born in the little town of Crasna (Romania). Ever since he was a child, he has been fascinated by the unique connection between pastors and their special book, the Bible. When at the age of 7 he received his first little Bible from a brave pastor who was able to procure it for him in spite of the interdictions of the communist regime, he felt special and decided one day he would become a pastor.

After serving as a Pastor for 8 years in Romania, in 2013 he immigrated to the USA. He currently serves as Lead Pastor of Plantation Seventh-day Adventist Church. Along with his wonderful wife Anda and their gorgeous daughter Alessandra, he enjoys proclaiming God’s grace and ministering to his fellows.

Pastor Joe is currently enrolled in a doctoral Program (DMin in Preaching) with Andrews University. His hobbies are languages, music, and poetry.

Sermon Theme: Victory is Jesus!
The Lighthouse Rediscovered

One day, in the midst of a deep existential crisis I rediscovered this verse of my childhood. When the boat of my life was sinking, in the darkness of my distress, discouragement and despair, it became a lighthouse!
The Key to Understanding Revelation

For me, this passage is the key for understanding of the book of Revelation. It is located at the intersection of two important sections: the seven churches and the seven seals. It is a bidirectional passage, because it concludes what precedes and introduces what follows.
The Victors

The victors of each of the 7 churches receive great promises. But the promise that goes to the victor of the 7 th church (the one called wretched and miserable…) is a conclusion, culmination and consummation of all promises! To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne… This is the same as: He who overcomes shall inherit all things! (21:7)
The Springboard

This verse does not only conclude the section of the 7 churches; it also ushers in the following section: the 7 seals! Scholars have called these bidirectional passages springboard passages… Because they function like a springboard… You come running…, jump on the springboard and it springs/launches you forward…
Historical Realities

This verse contains a succession of 4 historical realities that are described in the next for chapters (4, 5, 6, and 7).

• The first historical reality is the victory of Jesus (chapter 4).
• His victory is followed by His enthronement (chapter 5).
• We are to overcome just as he overcame (chapter 6).
• After obtaining the victory, we will sit with him on his throne (the throne of His Father, the throne of the universe). And that moment is described in chapter 7.
The Overcomer

How did Jesus overcome? William Penn said it: “No pain, no palm; no thorns, no throne; no gall, no glory; no cross, no crown.” The enemy repeatedly tried to crown Jesus’ before the cross! When he performed miracles, the crowd wanted to crown Him forcefully as their King.
Conclusion

Rev. 5:5. The lion of the tribe of Judah is the same as the lamb “as if slain”. Before becoming a lion, he had to be a lamb…! Being a lamb, he became worthy to become a lion! He knew: No thorns, no throne;

No cross,no crown! His victory is the model of our victory.
