Compounding Joy - wk2

Compounding Joy - wk2

We all make investments. Jesus challenges us to invest where rust won't destroy and where our joy will compound, expand and grow. Invest our temporal resources in His eternal good. It's there our heart will experience great joy.

RECAP:
-God is ultimately the OWNER, we're the managers of our resources (time, talent, treasure). We're to be good stewards.
-Don’t store up treasure on earth, not because they’re bad – but because they won’t last!
-Our hearts will always move toward where we invest our treasure.
-Give your Temporal dollars to ETERNAL INVESTMENTS First.
Undivided loyalty – (see Matthew 6:24) Why is Jesus seeking this as he discusses treasure/money?
God’s not looking for donors – he’s looking for disciples. *those immersed in His eternal vision and fueling its reality.
Quote:
"A disciple is one whose ultimate goal is to live as Jesus would if He were in your place." -Dallas Willard
To be a disciple as it comes to managing resources/treasure, means we’re choosing a couple things: 1) “The Mindset of a Sojourner”
-that Heaven, not earth, is our home. we're just passing through
In our culture – the natural pull is to have a possession obsession
Q) do you own your possessions or do they own you? *If affluenza is a disease – then there must be a cure. YES - The Apostle Paul writes about this in detail
Giving is the antidote to the pull of materialism & redirects us to Eternal Investments.
To be a disciple as it comes to managing resources/treasure, means we’re choosing a couple things: 2) GROW a generous heart like God’s.
= growth takes intentionality and practice. If you’ve ever wanted to grow in a skill set – you know that you had to practice. SO, we position ourselves to practice and develop our generosity in order to grow a heart that reflects Jesus.
God may be blessing you to raise your standard of giving, not necessarily your standard of living…
**suggest the Treasure Principle book (short, powerful in helping reframe our minds around treasure and God’s take on it)
