hey

What is a pastor and why should we appreciate them?

Moses could be considered the first pastor in the Bible. His call was directly from God, almost face to face. His flock was large, unruly, arrogant, and stubborn. He had to intercede for them with God many times. They both blessed him and drove him to distraction, but he loved them.
Let’s take a peek behind the scenes. What does scripture say about what a pastor is and does?
“Watching over the flock”
That means people who have pregnant daughters, just learned they have cancer, are facing the death of a love one, can’t break out of an addiction, are criticizing your ministry…..
Wow! Self controlled, upright, holy and disciplined?? That’s a tall order, isn’t it?
Do you understand that Christ gave us our Pastors?

And for what...?

To equip us for works of service…to build the body….so we reach unity…
PASTORS ARE CALLED TO BE...
~ Shepherds of the church
~ Above reproach
~ Faithful to their wives and family
~ Blameless
~ Self Controlled
~ Disciplined
~ Servants
What are the rewards then of being a pastor?
~ Jesus promised to build the church, and bless it.
What are the rewards then of being a pastor?
~ There is joy in investing in a specific group of believers.
What are the rewards then of being a pastor?
~ You get to bring a group of people into spiritual maturity.
What are the rewards then of being a pastor?
~ The pastorate embraces all of life. You get to participate with families in all stages of their lives, from birth to death

~ You feel loved, appreciated, and trusted. You know your people pray for you and care about you.

~ There is great joy in doing what God called you to do.
Why should we appreciate pastors?
1. Because our Pastors were selected by none other than God Himself. That alone should make us appreciate him.

2. Because our Pastors carries burdens that you know nothing about. Trust me; you don’t know the half of it! Aside from wearing far more hats than he should, he also carries the burdens of the entire congregation.

3. Because our Pastor has many of the same struggles that we have at work, at home, in relationships, financially, and so on. The difference is that there are very, very few people that our pastor can go to just to share these struggles.

4. Because he puts up with our criticism, complaints, and wacky ideas for ministries. Like any of us, Pastors need to hear the good more than the bad, but that’s rarely the case.

5. Because our Pastor needs to know we are with him. Whether you are a staff member or not, giving your support through appreciation is critical to your Pastor.
Take a moment before you leave today and thank Pastor’s Jeff, Keith and Luis and their wives.

We are blessed to have such a great ministry team!
