Online Giving

We believe all that we have comes from the gracious hand of our God. It's not ours to keep; we've been entrusted by Him to be good managers of all that He has given us. So we view the giving of our time, talents and resources to the Lord as an act of worship. Regarding the stewardship of our financial resources, there are several ways we can participate in worship through giving...physically giving at one of our Sunday Gatherings, via check or cash and digitally giving through our church app, our website, or clicking on the link below to access mobile giving. Give as the Lord leads you, not under guilt or compulsion, with a thankful heart. Thank you for worshiping God in this way and being a part of helping Northlake Church accomplish its purpose of making disciples who make disciples!

COLOSSIANS 2:6-7 | GRATITUDE

KEY THOUGHT...

WALK IN JESUS WITH GRATITUDE
COLOSSIANS 2:6-7 ESV
6 Therefore, as you received CHRIST JESUS the LORD, so WALK in him,
7 ROOTED and BUILT UP in him and ESTABLISHED in the faith, just as you were taught, ABOUNDING in THANKSGIVING.

COLOSSIANS 1:9-12 ESV
9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to WALK in a manner WORTHY of the Lord, FULLY PLEASING to him: BEARING FRUIT in every good work and INCREASING in the KNOWLEDGE of God; 11 being STRENGTHENED with all power, according to his glorious might, for all ENDURANCE and PATIENCE with JOY; 12 GIVING THANKS to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
1. RECEIVE CHRIST JESUS THE LORD...

* This is the only time in scripture this title is used in this way...and it is not on accident! Paul used this title to counteract 3 false conceptions of Jesus:

CHRIST...Fully God (Judaism denied this)

JESUS...Fully Human (Gnostics denied this)

LORD...Fully Supreme, Sovereign (Many religions deny)

QUESTION FOR US ALL...Have we "RECEIVED HIM" as CHRIST...JESUS...LORD?
2. WALK IN HIM...

-- Walking Implies ACTION
-- Walking Signifies PROGRESS
-- Walking Implies CONTINUANCE
-- Walking Implies HABIT
[Credit: Charles Spurgeon]
3. FOUR CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR WALK...

-- ROOTED in Him: [GOD DOES THIS] This has been completed by God's Grace to us given through Jesus Christ...strengthened with roots, firmly fixed, thoroughly grounded...[Greek word is passive perfect tense...which means it was a past completed action done by an outside source, God, but has an ongoing continuing effect]

-- BUILT UP in Him: [GOD DOES THIS] This literally means to build upon something already built, adding to the foundation of a building, building the structure of a building on top of an already constructed foundation. [Greek word is present tense indicating continuous process]

-- ESTABLISHED in the Faith: [GOD DOES THIS] [Romans 16:25, 2 Corinthians 1:21]...This word means sure, fixed, standing firm, steadfast, durable, unshakeable, certain, reliable. [Greek word is passive indicating it has been done by an outside force, namely God]

-- ABOUNDING in THANKSGIVING: [WE DO THIS] [Greek is present tense indicating it is continual, on going, as a habit].

ABOUNDING...Continually Overflowing
THANKSGIVING...Attitude of Gratitude...How can we not be THANKFUL when we owe EVERYTHING to GOD?

Communion Scripture Focus will be Psalm 118, A time to express our gratitude to God for his incredible Salvation!!
