Sawgrass Adventist School

Our Theme for 2017/2018: "Gifted To Serve" - 1 Peter 4:10 NIVThe Sawgrass Seventh-day Adventist School family exists to:• Nurture students' love for God and others• Empower students to use their talents to serve• Teach students to think• Show Jesus to others through actions and words.

http://www.sawgrassadventist.org/
Theme: Today we are to face an unprecedented generation gap. Change has always happened but it never with today's velocity. The new and the old are intrinsically connected; the new truth is the unfolding of the old truth.
It was not until the 60s (of the 20th century) that sociologists coined the phrase “generation gap…” It has a simple message: Thing will never be the same again!
Why do we lose the younger generation? Has the message of the Kingdom become meaningless? No! It’s not the message… maybe the messengers! The older generation got stuck in the good old days… their children simply couldn’t find meaning in the religion of their parents… How can we avoid that?

1. Access
2. Alienation
3. Authority
Access

Access is dangerous… On the other hand, access is wonderful! Right now people we can see us! We cant see them, but they can see us! They can access us, the disciples of the Kingdom! Have we been disciple with regard to the Kingdom? What should we bring out of our Kingdom-treasure?

Things new and old…!”
Alienation
Paradoxically, access has not brought us closer to each other. Alienated –locked up in their “room-empire” they live their little addicted life in a virtual world that has lost all connections to real life. These people are in a desperate need of genuine love.

In every age there is a new development of truth, a message of God to the people of that generation. The old truths are all essential; new truth is not independent of the old, but an unfolding of it. It is only as the old truths are understood that we can comprehend the new. (…)

But it is the light which shines in the fresh unfolding of truth that glorifies the old. He who rejects or neglects the new does not really possess the old. For him it loses its vital power and becomes but a lifeless form. Ellen White says (COL, 127-128):
Authority
The younger generation tends to question all authority! They question their parents, the establishment, religion, the Bible, God. Everything!

The new questions the old! Why??? Why –keeps the authority accountable! Could you be as nice as to tell them why? A question is a wonderful opportunity if we have answers relevant to the new context of life!
