Theme: Is there any biblical foundation for praying to the Virgin Mary?

Did Mary remain a virgin after she gave birth to Jesus?

• and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he
called His name JESUS.

• The conception was supernatural, but not the birth…

Is Mary still alive?


• Mariolatry – praying to (1) a human being that (2) has died.
•Eccl. 9:5 For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing (Eccl. 9:5)

• Pope Francis: The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan.

• "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you (John 14:18) → Holy Spirit

Did Mary have other children?

• Matt. 1:25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.

•Jesus had brothers and siblings - James, Joses, Simon, Judas (Matt. 12:46-60; 13:54-56; Acts 1:14)

• At the cross: Who’ll take care of mom?

Who were Jesus’ brothers and sisters?

•Close relatives (cousins)

• ? Blood brothers – idolatry?

•They were hostile at first → acceptance
