Don't Get Offended (Matthew 15:21-28)

We live in a world that gets offended easily. What does God's word say about it?

Are we driven by emotion or are we driven by faith? When we are directed by our emotions, it easy to be offended or to offended others.

Does this offend you?

In the these two scriptures, you see some pretty bold statements. Are they appropriate or did they serve a different purpose?

- Jesus was testing her faith
- Paul was stating what was already well known


There are things to consider this morning about being offended.
1) Christians are not to give offense
2) Christians perhaps have lost sight what offense means and does.
3) Christians should lead people to Christ, not drive them away.
4) No matter what we do, we will offend people.
The word offense is translated from skandalizo which refers to a trap or snare. Look at offenses as a way to trap others or yourself.

Offending or being offending can be a snare.

There is a proper way to handle offending situations. Follow what God's word says. Don't make it ruin your life.

Are we leading other's to Christ or pushing them away? Are we worried about making people happy or preaching the truth?

Finally, lets remember something very important about the concept of being offensive. The sin in our lives is offensive to God. We need to do everything we can to avoid being this type of offensive.
