BREAKING SOUL TIES

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
Genesis 2:18 (NIV)

The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
Genesis 2:23 (NIV)

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
Genesis 2:24 (NIV)

WHAT IS A SOUL TIE?

• The BIBLE refers to a “SOUL TIE” as the “SOULS BECOMING KNITTED TOGETHER” and “BECOMING ONE FLESH”.

• God’s design was for ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN to BECOME ONE SPIRITUALLY.

AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; so they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Mark 10:8 (NASB)

What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."
Mark 10:9 (NASB)

• Just as MAGNETS are drawn together with OPPOSITE POLARITY, so are the TWO OPPOSITE GENDERS drawn together.

• Biblically, marriage is a HEALTHY and HOLY “SOUL TIE”.

I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if you find my beloved, that you tell him I am sick with love.

• MARITAL BONDING insures a stable lasting environment for rearing children.

• ROMANTIC ATTACHMENTS are intended to PAIR BOND marital partners together for a LIFETIME.

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Now the man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame.

• God designed DEEP EMOTIONAL FEELING with SEXUAL DESIRES.


Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth,

a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love.

IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS TOUCH

• Human infants form ATTACHMENTS by PHYSICAL TOUCH.

• Adults do the same when first forming ROMANTIC ATTACHMENTS.

• Be very careful with “THE WHO” you have repeated physical contact with.

Now concerning the things about which you wrote, it is good for a man not to touch a woman.

But because of immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband.

• Once becoming SEXUALLY INVOLVED, a “SOUL TIE” unites together as ONE PERSON.

Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, "The two will become one flesh."

• The SEXUAL UNION was designed by God to BOND a MAN and A WOMAN together for a LIFETIME.

• Godly SOUL TIES are formed spiritually as a couple “CONSUMMATES THEIR MARRIAGE SEXUALLY”.

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children

• Godly SOUL TIES are intended to be UNBREAKABLE by man.

• Ungodly SOUL TIES fragment and scatter the TWO SOULS.

• Past SEXUAL BONDINGS increasing cause DIFFICULTY in BONDING to the next partner.

• The PERSONAL SOUL decreases and the COLLECTIVE SOUL increases.

For where jealousy and faction are, there is confusion and every vile deed.

• “I don’t know WHO I am anymore!”

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,

Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

SEXUAL SIN

But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband.
1 Corinthians 7:2 (NLT)

• Our MODERN CULTURE has tried to REDEFINE sexuality as a PERSONAL RIGHT.

• SEXUAL INVOLVEMENT is considered as a personal choice and decision, such as deciding to buy or rent a house.

• It is popular is completely leave SIN out of any SEXUAL EXPRESSION.

• “WRONG” is defined by personal standards, opinions, justifications, and circumstances.

BUT:


• God has NEVER GIVEN the privilege of DEFINING SIN to a man or woman.

• God who created SEXUALITY has the privilege of setting His guidelines.

So the lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the lord God took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening.

Then the lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.

“At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’”

This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.

• One man and woman joined together for a lifetime in loyalty and God called this, “Becoming one flesh”.

Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.

WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL?

• God called husband/wife sexuality “GOOD” and man/woman sexuality outside of marriage a PERVERSION of His gift.

• What God calls GOOD, Satan perverts into BAD.

• Our world now staggers under the weight of disease, perversion, molestation, abortion, pornography and sexual exploitation.

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
1 Corinthians 6:18 (NIV)

• Sexual sin DEFILES more than physical body, also there is great spiritual consequences.

Why be captivated, my son, by an immoral woman, or fondle the breasts of a promiscuous woman?

For the lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes.

An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him.

• The CONSEQUENCES of SEXUAL SIN are HORRIFIC. Solomon describes them as DEATH and HELL. Very few ever recover from SEXUAL SIN. (Pr. 2:18; 5:5; 7:27; 9:18)

• Almost EVERY BOOK in the Bible warns against SEXUAL SIN as WILLFULLY DISREGARDING God’s warnings.

Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.

For you remember what we taught you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.

God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives.

Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

BREAKING A SOUL TIE

• There is HOPE for RESTORATION of the soul, but it requires GODLY SORROW and REPENTANCE that most cannot UNDERSTAND or ACCEPT.

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
2 Corinthians 7:10 (NIV)

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
I John 1:9 (NKJV)

1. If any SINS were willfully committed causing a SOUL TIE, confess, repent and renounce them.

2. Any foolish, rash, or sincere VOWS or COMMITMENTS spoken in forming a SOUL TIE must be
RENOUNCED in the Name of Jesus.

3. FORGIVE the person(s) for their involvement in sinful acts.

4. REALIZE your sin was a VIOLATION Of God’s will for your life.

MAKE A SPIRITUAL DECREE

In the AUTHORITY of Jesus’ Name, I now RENOUNCE, BREAK, and SEVER any
UNGODLY SOUL TIES formed through my SINFULNESS. I ask the FATHER to RESTORE
my soul and REDEEM my potential that I SURRENDERED to Satan.

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!
