Summer of Prayer series - Adoration ONLINE ONLY

Got Prayer? We know we’re to make prayer a part of our lives in following after Jesus and his example. We will never stop growing in our journey of prayer. How do we engage more in it so we hear from God? We’re spending this year – this summer in particular – trying to grow in prayer. These messages and the practices we learn together will deepen our understanding of prayer and strengthen our relationship with God.

We’ve been in this summer of prayer series
Lord’s Prayer (2 wks)
Hearing from God (3 wks)

We're now turning our attention to the A.C.T.S. model of engaging in prayer. Pastor David started us off with Thanksgiving last weekend. Tonight Pastor Jack is directing us to examine and grow our Adoration of God.
God’s BIG
I’m little.

Quote:
“We are called to an everlasting preoccupation with God.”

Adoration:
Deep love and respect. TO: behold with fondness, affection, devotion and AWE. To worship, exalt and praise.
To grow in AWE, to MARVEL more and in Growing our ADORATION for God isn’t meant to be reserved for a few moments ever so often. It’s meant to be an ongoing daily reality – a way of living.
Psalm 145 is an acrostic psalm (cf. Ps. 25, 34, 119), meaning that the beginning of each verse begins with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It is obvious, from start to finish, this psalm is aimed at showing the greatness of God and inviting others into the joyful worship and adoration of Him.

Give it a read this week! Psalm 145

To truly KNOW someone is different than knowing about someone.

Psalm 145 is drawing us to truly KNOW GOD, not just know about.

Psalm 145:8-9
The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.
Our God has perfect, unimpeachable character.

As we behold, understand, and enjoy the character of God, increasingly we seek to emulate, by God’s grace and the Spirit’s power, His attributes like grace, mercy, goodness, holiness, justice, and love.
We should marvel at the amazing reality & character of our great God!

Oh that we would be people who are obsessed, captivated, and enthralled with God for the long haul. That we would be a people…

Quote:
“We are called to an everlasting preoccupation with God.”

Continue to read big writings about God (Isa. 40, John 1, Col. 1, Heb. 1) pray to God for open eyes to see how incredible, powerful, mighty, profound he truly is

The Good News of Jesus Christ, his perfect life, his substitutionary, sacrificial death, and his resurrection on our behalf is the means by which our eyes are opened to the greatness and glory of God.

Take-Away:
Seeing God for who he truly is, results in joyful worship and a compelling, growing adoration.
Prayer Practice: ABC Praise Moment
*(15 min of prayer; write out the ABC’s and then put a word for each letter that describes God, his character, attributes, something to praise him about – spending time thanking/praising him)

*don’t hurry to get through it; let your heart linger and ADORE your Savior and His GREATNESS
We are not called to be microscopes. We are called to be telescopes.

There is nothing and nobody more superior than God.

And so the calling of those who love God is to ADORE HIS GREATNESS and to make his greatness begin to look as great as it really is. Be a telescope to the world of the infinite greatness of God.
Thanks for tuning in with us. We are praying that your prayer life will grow this summer friends. Join us again next weekend as we continue to look into Prayer (all around confession).
