Who Sits on the Throne of Your Heart?
Series: No Other Gods
Week One
Exodus 20:1-5Then God gave the people all these instructions: 2 “I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. 3 “You must not have any other god but me. 4 “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. 5 You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods.
Mark 12:29-30“The most important commandment is this: “Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.”
Idolatry isn't just one of many sins; rather it's the one great sin that all others come from. - Kyle Idleman
Idolatry isn't an issue; it's the issue. - Kyle Idleman
Psalm 106:19-20 The people made a calf at Mt. Sinai; they bowed before an image of gold. They traded their glorious God for a god of their own creation.
Question: Why do we feel like God isn't enough for us? Could the answer be we haven't dealt with our hearts.
Stop working towards behavior modification and surrender your heart to God.
Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other.
