- Feet with touch, leathery soles covered in hair (seldom wearing shoes)
- Have the ability to disappear swiftly and silently
- Excellent hearing and share eyesight
- No understanding of complex technology
- Delight in wearing bright colors
- Love of food and drink, eating a mere six times a day
- Love laughter, games, celebrations, peace and quiet, books, and a “good tilled” earth
About Gandalf the Grey
- Gives wisdom and guidance
- Invites Bilbo on a journey to reclaim the homeland of an exiled group of people
- Sees the hobbit’s essential role in this journey
About Dwarves
- Seen as honorable and serious-minded
- Gold-hungry
- Extremely proud
- Occasionally officious (demeaning)
- Kicked out of their homeland by a dragon, forced to live in exile for years with no place to call home
