REVIEW
Our theme for 2017 is "Carry the Light."
The conduct of a true Christian, one who is genuinely "born again," is the outcome of a doctrinal foundation. We are "living out our faith," and our testimony indicates the quality of it, be it good or bad.
As I believe, therefore I live.
This morning we begin a short series on "The Beacon of Light."
A beacon, by definition:
Beacon (noun)
1. A guiding or warning signal, as a light or fire, especially one in an elevated position.
2. A tower or hill used for such purposes.
3. A lighthouse, signal buoy, etc., on a shore or at a dangerous area at sea to warn and guide vessels.
4. A person, act, or thing that warns or guides.
5. A person or thing that illuminates or inspires:
The Bible has been our beacon during this trouble.
radio beacon
A radar device at a fixed location that, upon receiving a radar pulse, transmits a reply pulse that enables the original sender to determine his or her position relative to the fixed location.

There are airport beacons:
It's the airport beacon, and the purpose is to identify the airport at night or in poor weather. These beacons can be seen from a great distance, much further than the runway lights can.
A green and white beacon indicates a civil land airport, as the majority of airports are. If it's green with two white flashes, it's a military land airport. White and yellow indicates a seaport. White-green-yellow is used for normal heliports, and white-green-red for hospital heliports.
An airport with an airport beacon will run the beacon continuously during night hours, and any time the weather is below visual flight minimums.

There are beacons used in smartphones:

These various beacons have several things in common:
* Beacons are designed to send out signals.
* Beacons are designed to help others.
* Beacons are designed to get their messages received.
