In his introduction, Pastor Wade talked about the importance and uniqueness of a person’s name. What are some of the most unique names you have ever heard?
In our society, names often have deep meaning and significance. Spend a few minutes allowing each person to share about their name. What is the meaning of your name? Were you named after someone specific? Why did your parents choose the name they gave you?
Read Proverbs 22:1. According to The Bible Knowledge Commentary on this verse, “Riches are useless if in gaining them one ruins his character.” What do you think about that statement? (cf. Prov 1:19)
A great deal of this week’s sermon focused on a person’s character. Character and reputation are very important issues in God’s metric for success. What do we learn about character and reputation from these Old Testament passages?
- Proverbs 3:1-4, 7
- Proverbs 24:8-9
- Proverbs 25:9-10
- Jeremiah 14:7, 20-21
- Proverbs 3:1-4, 7
- Proverbs 24:8-9
- Proverbs 25:9-10
- Jeremiah 14:7, 20-21
When conveying the qualifications for becoming a leader in the church, Paul included the need to have a good reputation in his list. Read 1 Timothy 3:1-8. In regard to a person’s reputation, what did Paul write in the following verses?
- 1 Timothy 3:2
- 1 Timothy 3:7
- 1 Timothy 3:8
- 1 Timothy 3:2
- 1 Timothy 3:7
- 1 Timothy 3:8
There is a plaque on Pastor Wade’s desk that says: “Reputation is made in a moment: character is built in a lifetime.” This week’s message focused on abiding in Christ and eliminating habitual sin from our lives. What habitual sin do you need to eliminate from your life?
Pastor Wade shared an Eight-Step process for repentance based on Psalm 51. [See the link below] Will you take the time to walk through that process to eliminate your habitual sin?
