JOYFUL, JOYFUL, WE ADORE THEE

Joyful, joyful we adore Thee,
God of glory, Lord of Love;
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee,
Op’ning to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
Drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day!

All Thy works with joy surround Thee,
Earth and heav’n reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee,
Center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain,
Flow’ry meadow, flashing sea,
Singing bird and flowing fountain
Call us to rejoice in Thee!

Thou art giving and forgiving,
Ever blessing, ever blest,
Wellspring of the joy of living,
Oceandepth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our Brother –
All who live in love are Thine;
Teach us how to love each other,
Lift us to the joy divine!

OUR GOD

Water You turned into wine, opened the eyes of the blind;
There’s no one like You, none like You.
Into the darkness You shine; out of the ashes we rise.
There’s no one like You, none like You.

Our God is greater, our God is stronger;
God, You are higher than any other,
Our God is healer, awesome in power, our God, our God.

Into the darkness You shine; out of the ashes we rise.
There’s no one like You, none like You.

Our God is greater, our God is stronger;
God, You are higher than any other.
Our God is healer, awesome in power, our God, our God.

And if our God is for us then who could ever stop us,
And if our God is with us then what could stand against?
And if our God is for us then who could ever stop us,
And if our God is with us then what could stand against?
What could stand against?

Our God is greater, our God is stronger;
God, You are higher than any other.
Our God is healer, awesome in power, our God, our God.

THIS IS MY FATHER’S WORLD

This is my Father’s world,
And to my list’ning ears,
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres
This is my Father’s world,
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world,
The birds their carols raise;
The morning light, the lily white
Declare their Maker’s praise.
This is My Father’s world,
He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father’s world,
O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world,
The battle is not done;
Jesus who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and heav’n be one.

HOW DEEP THE FATHER’S LOVE FOR US

How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure;
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.
How great the pain of searing loss;
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory.

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished.
His dying breath has brought me life;
I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything;
No gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ;
His death and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer.
But this I know with all my heart:
His wounds have paid my ransom.

GOD IS LIGHT: LIVE LIKE GOD'S CHILDREN
Introduction
hey
1. Light Reveals the Character and Condition of One's Soul
- If we “abide in him,” we will be confident in what the light of God will reveal.
- If we “abide in him,” we will show evidence of the God’s character in our lives—His love (3:1) and His purity (3:3).
2. Light Exposes the Character and Condition of One's Soul
- The same light that revealed the righteousness of a believer who is abiding in Him, also exposes the habitual sin for those who are not.
- The character and condition of a person’s soul is either shrouded in darkness or reflecting the light of God.
3. Light Transforms the Character and Condition of One's Life
- True saving faith brings about genuine life transformation—habitual sin is overcome by the power of the light of God, if we abide in Him.
- Life transformation is evidenced by “a long obedience in the same direction.”

HAVE THINE OWN WAY, LORD

Have Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter,
I am the clay!
Mold me and make me
After Thy will,
While I am waiting,
Yielded and still.

Have Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Search me and try me,
Master today!
Whiter than snow, Lord,
Wash me just now,
As in Thy presence
Humbly I bow.

Have Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Wounded and weary,
Help me, I pray!
Power, all power
Surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine.

Have Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Hold o’er my being
Absolute sway!
Fill with Thy Spirit
Till all shall see
Christ only, always
Living in me.
