We want to keep you informed as we make decisions on how to respond to the coronavirus outbreak. We are monitoring the situation very closely, and are making decisions that prioritize the safety of our congregation and community. We will give updates on our website at efree.org/safety, on our Facebook page, and via email. If you don’t get our emails and would like to, visit efree.org/updates.

First Free is making a change to the way we handle Elder nominations. Our Elders would like potential future Elders to participate in a course called Eldership at First Free Church. This course will explain how biblical eldership works at our church. To allow time for candidates to experience this course and learn if eldership may be a good fit for them, we are moving our nomination process for elders to earlier in the year. Please submit nominations for Elders by June 1st at efree.org/nominate. Nominations for Deacons and Nominating Committee members will be collected this fall.

One of the things we’ve learned during this pandemic is the importance of community. One of the best ways to find community in our church is joining a Group, like our women’s Bible study. You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about God while also building relationships. Learn more at efree.org/events.

We’ve rescheduled our spring workday to June 6! Our upcoming workday will be a bigger job than usual as we need to focus a lot of energy on the Becker property. Our vision for this property is a place where true ministry happens. Our goal is to create a park-like setting where our students and kids can run around and engage in activities like milk jug lacrosse, soccer, and bounce houses, but also where we can hold our outdoor baptism celebrations and other events. We want to make this the biggest church workday fellowship we’ve ever had! There will be lunch and snacks provided. We will be staying outside, keeping a social distance between workers who aren’t in the same family, and asking that you please wear a mask when near others. ALL St. Louis County restrictions will be strictly adhered to. The number of people in each area will be closely monitored and enforced to ensure everyone’s safety. In the past, we’ve had quite a few people show up on the day who hadn’t registered (which we really appreciated!), but for this workday, in particular, we are asking you to register in advance so we can keep an eye on the attendance numbers and make plans for who will work where. Your cooperation and understanding are appreciated as we strive to provide a safe environment for our campus clean-up. Please register by following the link!

Groups at First Free are a place to belong. Groups provide an environment for discipleship and study. They give opportunities for hospitality. They help us to grow and learn about God, the Bible, ourselves, and each other. Groups do not supplant the church, but they provide a setting where believers can more fully realize what it means to be the church. To learn more and find your fit, click the link below!

Life often includes challenges that are too big to face alone. Our lay Care Team Counselors are trained to walk alongside and assist people who are in need of hope, care, and direction. Counselors are available by appointment every Wednesday evening - email care@efree.org.

We are partnering with Carman Trails school to help support some of their students who face food insecurity. To help, please bring non-perishable, shelf-stable items (not canned, because of weight) to the hampers at the entrances to the building. Suggested items include fruit cups, prepared pasta meals, chicken/tuna packets, etc. Thank you for your generosity!
