Sometimes we get so caught up in the busyness of the season, we forget or don’t take time to think about the Biblical account of Christmas or how the simple birth of Jesus speaks to us today. Over the next few weeks, we'll take a look at the lives of some of the key people involved in the birth of Jesus.

JOSEPH WAS A RIGHTEOUS MAN.
Joseph was chosen not only because of his lineage, but because of His righteousness.

God chooses to use folks who aren’t perfect, but those are right with Him.
JOSEPH WAS MERCIFUL.
How do we react when we have been wronged severely? Do we have the mercy that Jesus tells us to have or do we want vengeance?
We may not always get a dream explaining why we are experiencing something, but God’s word tells us there is a plan and purpose behind all that He does.
Joseph obeyed God immediately! He didn’t try to reason his way out, or think that what God said didn’t apply to him and his situation.

Are we that quick to obey?
Joseph's obedient and self-less actions provided Mary and the baby with legitimacy, respectability, and protection. Otherwise she would be a single mom.

Joseph stepped up and great personal cost, did the right thing.

Do we care more about what others think than doing the right thing?
Sometimes God withholds something from us for a time, for our good before giving it to us at the right time.

Sometimes God tells us to wait for something that he has already promised us.
When God calls us to wait on something, such as sex or anything else, there is a perfect purpose and plan behind it.

As Christians, we need to listen to the HS and have some self-control and wait for God to say when.
Joseph was: Righteous, merciful, obedient to God, humble, self-controlled, pure and careful to keep God’s laws.

But Joseph was just an ordinary guy (like any of us) who was living his righteous life. No notoriety, no fame, hardly any mention in God’s word about him, but his devotion to God was what God used to bring about and train up the Messiah.

He is a great example of Biblical integrity and character
