Nootka language

Nuu-chah-nulth formerly known as Nootka or Ahts is a Wakashan language spoken on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in an area from Barkley Sound to Quatsino Sound in British Columbia, in Canada.

Scripture Selections

In 1899 Melvin Swartout (1859-1904) produced the Shorter catechism and hymnal, which included a few selections from the Bible, specifically the Ten commandments (Exodus 20:3-17); The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-10) and the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13); John 3:16, John 11:25- 26; John 14; and 1 Timothy 1:16.

Digital Editions

The Nootka Scripture Selections were digitised for the Canadian Bible Society, with the help of MissionAssist in 2023.
