Easter With the King

DAY 3 OF 5

Challenges Along the Way

Continual Scrutiny: Luke 20:20-26

Theme Verse: Luke 20:26

The life of royalty is often far from easy, with challenges coming from unexpected places. For instance, the royal family of the United Kingdom has long dealt with relentless "paparazzi" photographers, whose sole motivation is to capture images that sell. These photographers will go to great lengths—sneaking through bushes, hiding in cars, or taking unauthorized photos—all to satisfy the world's fascination with royalty.

The King of Kings, Jesus Christ, did not face paparazzi with cameras, but He certainly encountered relentless observers. Throughout His ministry, and especially during His final week before His death and resurrection, He was constantly followed and scrutinized. (Luke 20:20) Many of these onlookers pretended to be sincere, hoping to trap Him with His words and undermine His authority. Yet, Jesus always saw through their schemes. He responded with wisdom and grace, leaving them astonished and often silenced by His answers. (Luke 20:26) No plot against Him could prevail, for His authority and purpose were divine and unstoppable.

Questions:

1. What kind of "paparazzi" is acceptable where you live?

2. Have you ever acted as paparazzi, wanting to catch a candid glimpse of a celebrity?

3. How would you feel being the subject of the paparazzi you just described?

About this Plan

Easter With the King

This 5-day Easter Bible reading plan by Kristi Krauss invites you to celebrate Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Throughout history, royalty has been honored with crowns and grand ceremonies, yet no ruler compares to Jesus, whose eternal reign brings true peace, hope, and salvation. Over 2,000 years ago, He bore a crown of thorns, later exchanged for a crown of glory. This Easter, let us reflect on His sacrifice, rejoice in His resurrection, and give glory to our eternal King!
