Day 18 Renewal Readings
The Attributes of God
You must be treated as holy by those who come near You, and before all people, You will be honored. (Leviticus 10:3)
The Lord of hosts will be exalted in judgment, and the holy God will show Himself holy in righteousness. (Isaiah 5:16)
The Works of God
The eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the whole earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. (2 Chronicles 16:9)
For those who revere Your name, the Sun of righteousness will rise with healing in His wings. And they will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. (Malachi 4:2)
My Relationship to God
I will not let Your word depart from my mouth, but I will meditate on it day and night, so that I may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then I will make my way prosperous, and I will act wisely. (Joshua 1:8)
I am committed to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build me up and give me an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. (Acts 20:32)
The Character I Want to Cultivate
I shall not covet my neighbor’s house, my neighbor’s wife, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to my neighbor. (Exodus 20:17; Deuteronomy 5:21)
I will beware and be on my guard against all covetousness, for my life does not consist in the abundance of my possessions. (Luke 12:15)
My Relationship to Others
Wives should submit to their own husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, and He is the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also wives should be to their husbands in everything. (Ephesians 5:22–24)
Husbands should love their wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her that He might sanctify and cleanse her by the washing with water through the word, that He might present her to Himself as a glorious church, without spot or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, for we are members of His body. (Ephesians 5:25–30)
