And these are the kings of the land that Joshua and the People of Israel defeated in the country west of the Jordan, from Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon south to Mount Halak, which towers over Seir. Joshua gave this land to the tribes of Israel as a possession, according to their divisions: lands in the mountains, the western foothills, and the Arabah Valley, on the slopes, and in the wilderness and the Negev desert (lands on which Hittites, Amorites and Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites had lived). The kings were: The king of Jericho one The king of Ai (near Bethel) one The king of Jerusalem one The king of Hebron one The king of Jarmuth one The king of Lachish one The king of Eglon one The king of Gezer one The king of Debir one The king of Geder one The king of Hormah one The king of Arad one The king of Libnah one The king of Adullam one The king of Makkedah one The king of Bethel one The king of Tappuah one The king of Hepher one The king of Aphek one The king of Lasharon one The king of Madon one The king of Hazor one The king of Shimron Meron one The king of Acshaph one The king of Taanach one The king of Megiddo one The king of Kedesh one The king of Jokneam in Carmel one The king of Dor (Naphoth Dor) one The king of Goyim in Gilgal one The king of Tirzah one A total of thirty-one kings.

Joshua and the Israelites also defeated kings in the land west of the Jordan River. He gave the people the land and divided it among the twelve tribes to be their own. It was between Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon and Mount Halak near Edom. This included the mountains, the western hills, the Jordan Valley, the slopes, the desert, and southern Canaan. This was the land where the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites had lived. The Israelites defeated the king of each of the following cities: Jericho, Ai (near Bethel), Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, Eglon, Gezer, Debir, Geder, Hormah, Arad, Libnah, Adullam, Makkedah, Bethel, Tappuah, Hepher, Aphek, Lasharon, Madon, Hazor, Shimron Meron, Acshaph, Taanach, Megiddo, Kedesh, Jokneam in Carmel, Dor (in Naphoth Dor), Goyim in Gilgal, and Tirzah.
