James 4:6
James 4:6 King James Version (KJV)
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
James 4:4-6 The Message (MSG)
You’re cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way. And do you suppose God doesn’t care? The proverb has it that “he’s a fiercely jealous lover.” And what he gives in love is far better than anything else you’ll find. It’s common knowledge that “God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble.”
James 4:6 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.”
James 4:6 New Century Version (NCV)
But God gives us even more grace, as the Scripture says, “God is against the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.”
James 4:6 American Standard Version (ASV)
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore the scripture saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.
James 4:6 New International Version (NIV)
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
James 4:6 New King James Version (NKJV)
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
James 4:6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation]. Therefore, it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD and HAUGHTY, BUT [continually] GIVES [the gift of] GRACE TO THE HUMBLE [who turn away from self-righteousness].” [Prov 3:34]
James 4:6 New Living Translation (NLT)
And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
