Praying for Your Wild ChildMuestra

Praying for Your Wild Child

DÍA 2 DE 5

Parenting is the hardest mission that God has given me. I’m not naturally great with children.
I’m not the one you want to ask to watch your kids, to hold your babies, or to seek advice on soothing them when they are in the middle of a freak out about a dropped cookie on the floor (although I do understand that sadness).

When my kids were little, I would see other moms with quietly calm kids, and it sparked deep insecurity in me, thinking that I was raising my kids the wrong way. But that’s the exact reason why prayer has been my number one tool and weapon to fight through my parenting struggles. It’s not me praying for my crazy wild animals to be tamed, but rather, for them to one day use that crazy wildness to bring others to Jesus. God revealed that those other quietly calm kids were not weaved together with my DNA because I’m not quietly calm, and neither is my husband. And that’s how he created us. He created us all uniquely to reach others who might relate to us. He’s created our kids in the same way – uniquely – for his Kingdom and Glory.

Think about the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus. She wasn’t exactly who you would think would be the mother to the King of Kings, the Savior, and Lord of the World. Yet, God, in his wisdom, hand-picked her to be exactly who Jesus needed as a mother. He picked her to carry out one of the most important missions for our world, to deliver and parent the Son of God. She didn’t understand what was happening or why she had found favor with God, but her response was rooted in trust and faith.

So, pray for you to fully understand your identity in Christ so that you don’t parent through your insecurities but rather your confidence in God’s truth. Pray for their uniqueness and giftings to grow and reach the people God intends to reach through them. And pray for your heart to grow in faith, believing what the Angel Gabrielle shared with Mary - that nothing is impossible with God.

Praying for Your Wild Child

Let’s face it – all children feel like wild animals at times. And as parents, we often feel ill-equipped to raise them the way that we want to. Learning the importance of prayer as a parent brings freedom from the fears of failing and strength from the power of the Cross.
