The Faith Code: 14 Day Devotional

DAY 3 OF 14

The Power Source

In programming, the “source code" is the underlying architecture that makes a program or operating system work. Well-written, sophisticatedly structured code that works cleanly and doesn’t sap too much energy is worth its weight in platinum. It is science, but it is also an art.

In today’s world, it is imperative that our power source is secure, strong, has a deep reservoir, and is ever-charging—so that in times of extreme load we don’t crash and fail. Yet most of the things we do in life on a daily basis drain our spiritual energy rather than restore it. So what is our power source? Are we directly plugged in and connected to the Ultimate power source? If we’re not being formed by God’s elegant source code and powered by loving Him, we’re going to run out of energy.

Loving God is the source of spiritual strength and intelligence. When we love Him, He reflects His love back to us. And when we begin to grasp just how deeply we are loved, we are called to respond in kind. All expressions of love and goodness are maximized when we are connected to the Creator of “every good and perfect gift.” And when we live in step with our Creator, we find a non-stop source to power our missions, relationships, and our lives.

Prayer

Lord, we seek to love You more each day, the Creator of “every good and perfect gift.” We desire to love You with all our heart, all our understanding and all our strength, so that we don’t run out of energy and our capacity to share Your love grows.
