It's Giving...Idol.

DAY 4 OF 10

DAY 4: RELATIONSHIPS.

Our conviction that a person can satisfy us more than God is the root of relationship idolatry. Many PEOPLE, believers and nonbelievers alike, can identify with the need for a relationship or significant other. Relationships can be viewed as a symbol of our status.

If you are having difficulty getting over a previous relationship and are unable to escape its deep hurt, you may be suffering from relationship idolatry. Perhaps you've been separated for a long time and are no longer in contact with the person, and they're not even a part of your current life. Nonetheless, you are deeply upset by what occurred. A previous relationship might become an idol in and of itself.

Ask God to help you focus on His purpose for your life and what you’re called to do FOR HIM. The rest will come according to HIS will.

Homework:

- Find a chapter or verse in the Bible and write it down. Read it throughout the day, or anytime you feel anxious about a relationship.

- Listen to worship/godly music.

- Write down the name of at least one person you can pray for today, and pray for them.

- Seek out at least one person you can serve, share your time with, or give to today.

Idolatry isn’t always “in your face.” It’s actually a very subtle thing, and we’re ALL guilty. In this 10-day plan, let's define idolatry, identify idols in our own lives, and get helpful tips on how to avoid "the drift" toward idolatry, known and unknown. This plan will inspire and reveal truth about ways we allow people, places, things, and even world ideologies to take God's role in our lives.
