Every Word, a Reader's 90-Day Guide to the BibleSample
- God’s long-promised plan to rescue and redeem the world is fulfilled through Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection. Feel the weight of the false accusations, the hostile mobs, the sham trial, the desertion of the disciples. More painful than the crucifixion itself, God the Father turned away as Jesus bore our sins totally alone. Bow low in worship and gratitude for His great sacrifice.
- After His resurrection, Jesus the King issues His mandate: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19–20).
- Matthew closes his book the same way it began—God is with us! (1:23; 28:20b) Take comfort that in Jesus, God is with us always.
- Mark writes to a Roman audience of persecuted Christians. In a fast-paced telling, he portrays Jesus as the Son of God who has come to serve and suffer for mankind. Notice the repeated word “immediately” as Jesus gets to work among the people.
