WHAT HAPPENED TO PAUL:
•57 AD: Returned from his 3rd journey with gifts for the church in Jerusalem; a riot breaks out and Paul is arrested.
•When a plot is discovered to kill Paul, Lysias moves him to Caesarea where he awaits a trial before Governor Felix. Felix, being sneaky, holds him for two years hoping for a bribe.
•59 AD: Festus replaces Felix and attempts resolution. Paul requests a trial (his right) before Caesar (Acts 25:10)
•Paul makes a defense before King Agrippa who almost becomes a Christian – Paul is sent to Rome.
•60 AD: On his way to Rome, Paul is shipwrecked, almost executed, and bitten by a poisonous snake (Acts 27-28).
•62 AD Paul is still awaiting trial under house arrest in Rome (Acts 28:28-31). He writes the prison epistles.

WE CAN REJOICE IN THE GOSPEL
•We can rejoice in the advancement of the gospel even in the midst of personal difficulty (Phil. 1:12).
•We can rejoice in the gospel going to the least likely even when we are personally limited (1:13; 4:22).
•We can rejoice in the gospel being preached even if others think less of us (1:15).

HOW TO REJOICE IN THE GOSPEL
• See the gospel as a higher priority than your comfort (Col. 4:3).
•Remember God’s purpose for your life is to share the gospel with others (Gal. 1:15-16; Jer. 1:5)
•Understand your suffering may give you an even greater opportunity to share the gospel (Acts 9:16).
