Romans 4:5
Romans 4:4-5 The Message (MSG)
If you’re a hard worker and do a good job, you deserve your pay; we don’t call your wages a gift. But if you see that the job is too big for you, that it’s something only God can do, and you trust him to do it—you could never do it for yourself no matter how hard and long you worked—well, that trusting-him-to-do-it is what gets you set right with God, by God. Sheer gift.
Romans 4:5 King James Version (KJV)
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Romans 4:5 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness
Romans 4:5 New Century Version (NCV)
But people cannot do any work that will make them right with God. So they must trust in him, who makes even evil people right in his sight. Then God accepts their faith, and that makes them right with him.
Romans 4:5 American Standard Version (ASV)
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is reckoned for righteousness.
Romans 4:5 New International Version (Anglicised) (NIVUK)
However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.
Romans 4:5 New King James Version (NKJV)
But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness
Romans 4:5 Amplified Bible (AMP)
But to the one who does not work [that is, the one who does not try to earn his salvation by doing good], but believes and completely trusts in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited to him as righteousness (right standing with God).
Romans 4:5 New Living Translation (NLT)
But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.
Romans 4:5 The Passion Translation (TPT)
But no one earns God’s righteousness. It can only be transferred when we no longer rely on our own works, but believe in the one who powerfully declares the ungodly to be righteous in his eyes. It is faith that transfers God’s righteousness into your account!
