Ich weiß wohl, dass in mir nichts Gutes wohnt. Zwar habe ich durchaus den Wunsch, das Gute zu tun, aber es fehlt mir die Kraft dazu. Ich will eigentlich Gutes tun und tue doch das Schlechte; ich verabscheue das Böse, aber ich tue es dennoch. Wenn ich also immer wieder gegen meine Absicht handle, dann ist klar: Nicht ich selbst bin es, der über mich bestimmt, sondern die in mir wohnende Sünde.
