Ond meddai Naomi, “Ewch adre, merched i. Pam fyddech chi eisiau dod gyda fi? Gaf i byth feibion eto i chi eu priodi nhw. Ewch adre, merched i! Ewch! Dw i’n rhy hen i briodi eto. A hyd yn oed petai gobaith, a finnau’n cael gŵr heno ac yn cael plant, fyddech chi’n disgwyl iddyn nhw dyfu? Fyddech chi’n aros amdanyn nhw heb briodi? Na, merched i. Dw i ddim eisiau i chi ddiodde fel fi. Yr ARGLWYDD sydd wedi gwneud i mi ddiodde.” Dyma nhw’n dechrau crio’n uchel eto. Wedyn dyma Orpa’n rhoi cusan i ffarwelio â Naomi. Ond roedd Ruth yn ei chofleidio’n dynn ac yn gwrthod gollwng gafael. Dwedodd Naomi wrthi, “Edrych, mae dy chwaer-yng-nghyfraith wedi mynd yn ôl at ei phobl a’i duw ei hun. Dos dithau ar ei hôl hi.” Ond atebodd Ruth, “Paid rhoi pwysau arna i i dy adael di a throi cefn arnat ti. Dw i am fynd ble bynnag fyddi di yn mynd. A dw i’n mynd i aros ble bynnag fyddi di’n aros. Bydd dy bobl di yn bobl i mi, a dy Dduw di yn Dduw i mi. Ble bynnag fyddi di’n marw, dyna lle fyddai i’n marw ac yn cael fy nghladdu. Boed i Dduw ddial arna i os bydd unrhyw beth ond marwolaeth yn ein gwahanu ni’n dwy.”

Dywedodd Naomi, “Ewch adref, fy merched. Pam y dewch gyda mi? A oes gennyf fi ragor o feibion yn fy nghroth, iddynt ddod yn wŷr i chwi? Ewch yn ôl, fy merched, oherwydd yr wyf fi'n rhy hen i gael gŵr. Pe bawn i'n dweud bod gennyf obaith cael gŵr heno, ac yna geni plant, a fyddech chwi'n disgwyl nes iddynt dyfu? A fyddech yn ymgadw rhag priodi? Na, fy merched; y mae'n llawer chwerwach i mi nag i chwi am fod llaw yr ARGLWYDD yn f'erbyn i.” Wylodd y ddwy yn uchel eto; yna ffarweliodd Orpa â'i mam-yng-nghyfraith, ond glynodd Ruth wrthi. A dywedodd Naomi, “Edrych, y mae dy chwaer-yng-nghyfraith wedi mynd yn ôl at ei phobl a'i duw; dychwel dithau ar ei hôl.” Ond meddai Ruth, “Paid â'm hannog i'th adael, na throi'n ôl oddi wrthyt, oherwydd i ble bynnag yr ei di, fe af finnau; ac ym mhle bynnag y byddi di'n aros, fe arhosaf finnau; dy bobl di fydd fy mhobl i, a'th Dduw di fy Nuw innau. Lle y byddi di farw, y byddaf finnau farw ac yno y'm cleddir. Fel hyn y gwnelo'r ARGLWYDD i mi, a rhagor, os bydd unrhyw beth ond angau yn ein gwahanu ni.”

A dywedodd Naomi, Dychwelwch, fy merched: i ba beth y deuwch gyda mi? a oes gennyf fi feibion eto yn fy nghroth, i fod yn wŷr i chwi? Dychwelwch, fy merched, ewch ymaith: canys yr ydwyf fi yn rhy hen i briodi gŵr. Pe dywedwn, Y mae gennyf obaith, a bod heno gyda gŵr, ac ymddŵyn meibion hefyd; A arhosech chwi amdanynt hwy, hyd oni chynyddent hwy? a ymarhosech chwi amdanynt hwy, heb wra? Nage, fy merched: canys y mae mawr dristwch i mi o’ch plegid chwi, am i law yr ARGLWYDD fyned i’m herbyn. A hwy a ddyrchafasant eu llef, ac a wylasant eilwaith: ac Orpa a gusanodd ei chwegr; ond Ruth a lynodd wrthi hi. A dywedodd Naomi, Wele, dy chwaer yng nghyfraith a ddychwelodd at ei phobl, ac at ei duwiau: dychwel dithau ar ôl dy chwaer yng nghyfraith. A Ruth a ddywedodd, Nac erfyn arnaf fi ymado â thi, i gilio oddi ar dy ôl di: canys pa le bynnag yr elych di, yr af finnau; ac ym mha le bynnag y lletyech di, y lletyaf finnau: dy bobl di fydd fy mhobl i, a’th DDUW di fy NUW innau: Lle y byddych di marw, y byddaf finnau farw, ac yno y’m cleddir; fel hyn y gwnelo yr ARGLWYDD i mi, ac fel hyn y chwanego, os dim ond angau a wna ysgariaeth rhyngof fi a thithau.
