Mathew 14:6-12 Beibl Cymraeg Newydd Diwygiedig 2004 (BCND)
Pan oedd Herod yn dathlu ei ben-blwydd, dawnsiodd merch Herodias gerbron y cwmni a phlesio Herod gymaint nes iddo addo ar ei lw roi iddi beth bynnag a ofynnai. Ar gyfarwyddyd ei mam, dywedodd hi, “Rho i mi, yma ar ddysgl, ben Ioan Fedyddiwr.” Aeth y brenin yn drist, ond oherwydd ei lw ac oherwydd ei westeion gorchmynnodd ei roi iddi, ac anfonodd i dorri pen Ioan yn y carchar. Daethpwyd â'i ben ef ar ddysgl a'i roi i'r eneth, ac aeth hi ag ef i'w mam. Yna daeth ei ddisgyblion a mynd â'r corff ymaith a'i gladdu, ac aethant ac adrodd yr hanes wrth Iesu.

Ond yna, ar ddiwrnod pen-blwydd Herod dyma ferch Herodias yn perfformio dawns yn y parti. Roedd hi wedi plesio Herod gymaint nes iddo dyngu ar lw y byddai’n rhoi iddi beth bynnag oedd hi’n gofyn amdano. Gyda’i mam yn ei hannog, dwedodd wrtho, “Dw i eisiau i ti dorri pen Ioan Fedyddiwr, a’i roi i mi ar hambwrdd.” Doedd y brenin ddim yn hapus o gwbl, ond am ei fod wedi addo ar lw o flaen ei westeion, rhoddodd orchymyn i’w roi iddi. Anfonodd filwyr i’r carchar i dorri pen Ioan i ffwrdd. Wedyn, dyma nhw’n dod â’r pen ar hambwrdd a’i roi i’r ferch fach, a rhoddodd hithau e i’w mam. Dyma ddisgyblion Ioan yn cymryd y corff a’i gladdu, ac wedyn yn mynd i ddweud wrth Iesu beth oedd wedi digwydd.

Eithr pan gadwyd dydd genedigaeth Herod, y dawnsiodd merch Herodias ger eu bron hwy, ac a ryngodd fodd Herod. O ba herwydd efe a addawodd, trwy lw, roddi iddi beth bynnag a ofynnai. A hithau, wedi ei rhagddysgu gan ei mam, a ddywedodd, Dyro i mi yma ben Ioan Fedyddiwr mewn dysgl. A’r brenin a fu drist ganddo: eithr oherwydd y llw, a’r rhai a eisteddent gydag ef wrth y ford, efe a orchmynnodd ei roi ef iddi. Ac efe a anfonodd, ac a dorrodd ben Ioan yn y carchar. A ducpwyd ei ben ef mewn dysgl, ac a’i rhoddwyd i’r llances: a hi a’i dug ef i’w mam. A’i ddisgyblion ef a ddaethant, ac a gymerasant ei gorff ef, ac a’i claddasant; ac a aethant, ac a fynegasant i’r Iesu.
