Roedd Elias wedi dychryn a dyma fe’n dianc am ei fywyd. Aeth i Beersheba yn Jwda, gadael ei was yno a cherdded yn ei flaen drwy’r dydd i’r anialwch. Yna dyma fe’n eistedd o dan lwyn banadl a gofyn am gael marw. “Dw i wedi cael digon! ARGLWYDD, cymer fy mywyd i. Dw i ddim gwell na’m hynafiaid.” Yna dyma fe’n gorwedd i lawr a syrthio i gysgu dan y llwyn. A dyma angel yn dod a rhoi pwt iddo a dweud, “Cod, bwyta.”

Ofnodd yntau a dianc am ei einioes nes dod i Beerseba, oedd yn perthyn i Jwda. Gadawodd ei was yno, ond aeth ef yn ei flaen daith diwrnod i'r anialwch. Pan oedd yn cymryd seibiant dan ryw bren banadl, deisyfodd o'i galon am gael marw, a dywedodd, “Dyma ddigon bellach, O ARGLWYDD; cymer f'einioes, oherwydd nid wyf fi ddim gwell na'm hynafiaid.” Ond wedi iddo orwedd a chysgu dan ryw bren banadl, dyna angel yn ei gyffwrdd ac yn dweud wrtho, “Cod, bwyta.”

A phan welodd efe hynny, efe a gyfododd, ac a aeth am ei einioes, ac a ddaeth i Beerseba, yr hon sydd yn Jwda, ac a adawodd ei lanc yno. Ond efe a aeth i’r anialwch daith diwrnod, ac a ddaeth ac a eisteddodd dan ferywen; ac a ddeisyfodd iddo gael marw: dywedodd hefyd, Digon yw; yn awr, ARGLWYDD, cymer fy einioes: canys nid ydwyf fi well na’m tadau. Ac fel yr oedd efe yn gorwedd ac yn cysgu dan ferywen, wele, angel a gyffyrddodd ag ef, ac a ddywedodd wrtho, Cyfod, bwyta.
