Pan glywodd Iesu fod Ioan wedi cael ei garcharu, gadawodd Jwdea a mynd yn ôl i Galilea. Ond yn lle mynd i Nasareth, aeth i fyw i Capernaum sydd ar lan y llyn yn ardal Sabulon a Nafftali. Felly roedd beth ddwedodd Duw drwy’r proffwyd Eseia yn dod yn wir: “Tir Sabulon a thir Nafftali, sydd ar Ffordd y Môr, a’r ardal yr ochr draw i afon Iorddonen, hynny ydy Galilea, lle mae pobl o genhedloedd eraill yn byw – Mae’r bobl oedd yn byw mewn tywyllwch wedi gweld golau llachar; ac mae golau wedi gwawrio ar y rhai sy’n byw dan gysgod marwolaeth.” Dyna pryd y dechreuodd Iesu gyhoeddi ei neges, “Trowch gefn ar bechod, achos mae’r Un nefol yn dod i deyrnasu.” Un tro roedd Iesu’n cerdded ar lan Llyn Galilea, a gwelodd ddau frawd – Simon, oedd pawb yn ei alw’n Pedr, a’i frawd Andreas. Pysgotwyr oedden nhw, ac roedden nhw wrthi’n taflu rhwyd i’r llyn. Dyma Iesu’n galw arnyn nhw, “Dewch, dilynwch fi, a gwna i chi’n bysgotwyr sy’n dal pobl yn lle pysgod.” Heb oedi, dyma’r ddau yn gollwng eu rhwydi a mynd ar ei ôl. Wrth gerdded yn ei flaen, gwelodd Iesu ddau frawd arall – Iago ac Ioan, dau fab Sebedeus. Roedden nhw mewn cwch hefo Sebedeus eu tad yn trwsio eu rhwydi. Dyma Iesu’n eu galw nhw hefyd, a dyma nhw’n gadael y cwch a’u tad a dechrau dilyn Iesu.
