Before the Cross: 31 Days of Serving

DAY 31 OF 31

Day 31 – Fellowship With

The Christian life is not meant to be spent in isolation. Sometimes our lives can get so routine or busy that we feel like we don’t have enough time for fellowship with believers and/or non-believers. Sometimes we feel like we have enough friends and there is no need to make another one, or that we don’t have any friends so it would be awkward to even get started.

The Bible says if we walk in the light, as Jesus walks in the light, we will have fellowship with one another. We need our brothers and sisters in Christ daily for encouragement and to build each other up, strengthen each other, teach, and even rebuke one another. We need to also make sure we don’t just hang out with our Christian friends, in Christian shops, and only at Christian events. By doing that, we are isolating ourselves from the world when the Bible clearly teaches us to go out into the world, to mix it up, and to spread the Gospel.

Something to be watchful for is pride. If we are in isolation all the time, we’ll be tempted to think our way must be the right way and we’ll want to keep it that way. That is pride. It is “contending for the supremacy of Christ” (C.J. Mahaney). Let’s live in fellowship with one another as we walk in the light and praise God that Jesus, by His blood, has cleansed us from all sin.

Who can you be in fellowship with today?
