Spirit, Soul & Body Part 2نموونە
‘Out’ with the Old
Reflection
Think of a time when you felt young or when life seemed fresh and vibrant. When was it? Why was that? What is different today?
Introspection
The new is birthed within you. Jesus isn’t going to do that one day in the future! He did it in Jerusalem, on a cross between two thieves, crying out the declaration that It (the old agreement with Israel, the old Adam inheritance) was finished with, it had no more room in life; no more would it clutter and putrefy life - his death paved the way for his resurrection and our resurrection to new life. The new was activated. Jesus demonstrated that he had become our source of new life and right standing with God, that our personal life of old and its interaction with the world was changed. Sending his Spirit on the church in Jerusalem was the seal of God on what he had done in finishing the reign of the old.
Your Next Step
Practical action. Take your rubbish/trash/recycling out to the bin/refuse collection point. Pay attention to the smells, textures, and feelings that you experience in doing this.
Pause and Pray. Thank Jesus for the old, dirty, smelly, wasted baggage that he took outside of you, crucified it so that you had to bear it no more. Consider how different it feels knowing that the old is out and dealt with. Reflect on how messy the task of 'taking out the trash' was, and you don’t need to do that because Jesus has done it. Let gratitude, appreciation, thankfulness, and celebration be exhibited in you today! Look for every opportunity to allow this overflow into people's lives as you live clear and clean of the old.
About this Plan
The following reading plan will take you deeper into the three concepts of Spirit, Soul, and Body at a steady pace, building on the message of Jesus' finished work. It will stretch, challenge, and grow you as his follower. Make sure to allow the Holy Spirit space to work in you and shape you. See the impact for yourself. This is the second of four plans in this series.
