Imagine That
If you can’t figure out what your first step of faith should be, use the amazing tool God has given you to walk in baby faith. It’s called your imagination.
Imagination is not mere child’s play; it is a powerful force given to us by our Creator. Its root word is image, and we are created in the image of God with the power to imagine what is not yet tangible but can be realized. That’s crazy! You may have stopped using your imagination because somebody said you need to grow up and start adulting, but I’m telling you, it’s time to revive it again. Imagination is way too powerful to be left sitting in the toy box.
You can be in a place that is the exact opposite of what you desire, then close your eyes and see yourself exactly where you want to be. (Go ahead—try it!)
You could be bedridden in a full body cast, but when you close your eyes, you can imagine yourself healed and walking again.
You and your kids could wake up in your one-bedroom apartment listening to water drip into a bucket under the most recent ceiling leak, but then you close your eyes and see yourself being handed the keys to your beautiful new four-bedroom, two-bath home in a safe, quiet neighborhood.
You could be at Christmas dinner sitting next to your drunk uncle with other family members arguing across the table, but then close your eyes and see a peaceful, joyful family get-together where everyone is showing each other love and sharing testimonies of God’s faithfulness.
You could even be in a jail cell, counting down the days until you’re able to hold your child again, but when you close your eyes, you’re at her seventh birthday party, snapping pics with glittery unicorns and princess tiaras.
Don’t belittle your imagination! It’s God given. It’s divine. Those daydreams could be God trying to show you a glimpse of the future that is possible for you if you would only believe Him enough to move toward it.
If you could change one relationship, one situation in your life, one part of your daily living, what would it be? Close your eyes and imagine. Then ask God to help shape your dreams into reality.
