Real Hope: Gideonنموونە
Confident Humility
Gideon is technically a judge but he neither rules nor judges over Israel. Neither does his family. This is probably the last great moment of Gideon’s life but it highlights something very important. Israel never needed a person to rule over them – they weren’t a monarchy. They were a theocracy.: a nation ruled by God. Gideon was simply a servant following instructions.
Have you ever met a great person of faith who simply deflects things back to God?
In pastoral ministry, I’ve encountered this a lot. There are incredible people who do incredible things pointing back to the goodness of God. There is a humble confidence to a person who is walking in the footsteps of God. A trust and a confidence that God is authoring their lives. The miraculous is always a marvel, but not unexpected from God. There is a humble confidence because a person isn’t depending on their own ability but on the active presence of God.
This is probably the last great moment of Gideon’s life, because it’s probably the final moment of him walking in the footsteps of God with a humble confidence that God is leading the way. It’s a great reminder that it is never about your own ability but rather the ability of God in your life.

About this Plan
All throughout the Bible there are stories of ordinary people being used by God to do extraordinary things. Gideon was one such person. As you journey through Gideon's life, our prayer is that you are encouraged and challenged, and that you ultimately remember God is faithful till the end.
