Reward #4: Kingdom Authority
Have you ever wondered what "Kingdom authority" really looks like?
When I think of "Kingdom authority," I think of a big cat show in a traveling circus.
In a big cat show, the trainers bring out their lions and tigers. Then, they show the audience how the cats can bow down, jump through fire, jump over obstacles, and act like docile, little kittens.
Those trainers never act intimidated. They never come out sheepishly, acting like they are scared out of their skin. NO! Instead, the trainer comes out with his whip. When he cracks the whip, the cats follow the commands simply because of the authority the trainer carries—and because of their many hours of training.
When we have Jesus and the Word of the Living God living inside us, we carry that level of authority too.
When YOU say "yes" to God, you carry Kingdom authority. However, I can tell you one thing about authority: you will never experience real, kingdom, God-ordained, God-appointed authority unless you are in and under authority yourself.
As Paul said in Romans 13:1 TPT:
"Every person must submit to and support the authorities over him. For there can be no authority in the universe except by God’s appointment, which means that every authority that exists has been instituted by God.”
God is the one who gives you the ability and the authority to exercise His authority.
He has given you the authority in Jesus' name to trample on the works of darkness; to enforce and release God's Kingdom on the earth; and to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, cleanse lepers, and even do GREATER WORKS than Jesus did!
Jesus did give us one warning about the use of His authority:
In Luke chapter 10, Luke told a very interesting story in which Jesus sent out 72 of His disciples with strict instructions. He told the disciples that they couldn't take any money, a traveler's bag, nor even an extra pair of shoes. He told them not to stop to greet anyone. He instructed them to bless the places in which they stay with peace, and not to move from home to home (but to stay in one place).
Then, He told them to heal the sick and preach the Gospel of the Kingdom.
Luke 10:17 NLT says:
“When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord even the demons obey us when we use your name!”
Jesus, in essence, replied, "Really? Big deal! Listen, guys! I was there in Heaven when My Father kicked the devil out of heaven." Then, He said:
"I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven" (Luke 10:18-20 NLT).
Always keep the proper perspective.
You have more authority in your smallest finger, through the power of Jesus’ name, than the devil has in the entire world. Exercise it and walk in it! Just keep your eyes on Jesus, and remember to rejoice not in authority but in Christ and who He is.
"Kingdom authority" is not about you being great. It's about the greatness of who God is.
As long as you maintain that humble, Christ-centered perspective, get your head up, throw back your shoulders, stand up straight, and walk with the authority God has given you! You are a mighty, victorious warrior of God!
